The winners of the Sylvan 17 and under provincials that were held at our club a couple weekends ago were Alex Matters and our Amanda MacLean team.

The Provincial Men's seniors were held at our club last weekend, and Bill Hope went through the competition undefeated. Our Bob Matheson team along with Muncey Harris(third), Glen Betts(Second) and Wayne Arsenault(lead), placed second.

The new Wednesday night draw and the Thursday night draw will begin this week. Please sign up at the club asap.

This Sunday we will be holding the MLA fundraiser at the club. Drop in to see local businesses take on the MLA's. It is sure to be a fun, funny day. Call Audrey Thomson for details.

Sylvan Learning 17 & Under Provincials

The Maple Leaf Curling Club in O'Leary is the location for the 2011 Sylvan Learning Provincial 17 and Under Curling Championship. Six age 17 and under men's and five women's teams are entered. Teams play a triple knockout format, beginning on Friday, and wrapping up Sunday, with the section winners advancing to a two game championship round on Monday. In the event a team wins all three triple knockout sections, they will be declared champion without the championship round. A team winning two sections would take the championship if they won either championship game, while the opposing team would have to win both.

Last year's champions, the Tiffany Sweet and Matthew MacLean rinks, are both from this year's host club. MacLean is back this year, but Sweet is now out of the age category.

Teams and fans are invited to comment on the event, using the "ShoutBox" on the right of the results page.

The 2011 winning rinks will advance to the Sylvan Learning Atlantic 17 and Under Championships, April 15-17 at the Charlottetown Curling Club.

The MLCC will be holding the annual "Tough Guy/Tough Gal" one on one spiel, Saturday Nov 27th, beginning at 10am. $5 per person. Please sign up no later than Friday night. This spiel is brought to you by Bob's Pharmacy.

The following weekend we will be holding the annual Co-op/Credit Union Spiel, December 3rd-5th. Please sign up no later than December 2nd. $100 per team/$25 individual.

Saturday December 11th, there will be a junior cash spiel. $100 per team. 3 games, food, and much more! Guaranteed to be a fun-filled weekend! Please send team to m_smallman11@hotmail.com

Free ice time, and changes to recent post!!

On Thursday, November 11th, 1-4pm, the club will have free ice time for members and non-members. This will give some members a chance to have a little ice time before our first bonspiel.

The Learn to Curl time has been changed! It will not be held through the week. Instead it will be held ONLY Monday and Tuesday No15-16th.

The Co-op/Credit Union Spiel is held this weekend, (Nov. 12-14) and we would like to have as many teams as possible. $100 per team, or $25 per individual. Sign up due Thursday. To sign up, drop into the club, or call us @ 859-3012, and leave a message with your name and number. Or email us your team at mapleleafcurlingclub@hotmail.com.
Also, Ham and Scallop dinner will be provided.

Hemphill GM Annual Bonspiel!

Hey Guys! The annual Hemphill GM Bonspiel is coming up this weekend, and we would like to get a few teams in. Everyone knows that the annual hemphill bonspiel is one of the best that the club puts on each year! So sign up at the club or phoning us at 859-3012.(Leave a message). There will be a roast beef dinner put on and lots of entertainment!

$100 a team or $25 a player.

Co-op/Credit Union Bonspiel Come to End

The anual Co-op Credit Union Bonspiel took place at the Maple Leaf Curling Club on December 4th-5th. They had 10 teams in total. We had a lovely supper that was put together by some of the ladies. All in all it was a great fun filled weekend!

The Amanda MacLean team defeated the Silver Fox's Sam Ramsay team in the A Final.

Matthew MacLean team won the B Divison defeating Audrey Thomson.

Parker Clements won against Tiffany Sweet in The C Final.

The Canteen has started up again this year! We will be serving basicly the same things as last year! So support the club! Fried food is also available at the Canteen. PLUS! the food at the mlcc will be cheaper or the same price as the O'Leary Community Sports centre!
